Dear Kindergarten Families,

February will be a very busy, fast-paced month filled with holidays and special events. Throughout the month we will focus on Presidents, Groundhog Day, Lunar New Year our 100th Day of School, Black History Month, and Heart/Dental Month.

On Thursday, we will celebrate our 100th Day of School! YIPPEE!  We will be doing some great projects including an edible necklace and fun 100th Day exercises!

February 2nd is Groundhog Day and we will briefly discuss this tradition and study the concept of shadows.

Word of the Week:  "because"

In Math, we will continue to study different strategies to solve addition and subtraction word problems.  We will also continue our counting collections and grouping by 2's, 5's, and 10's.  Please practice writing numbers correctly at home.  The most common reversals are the numbers 3,4, 5, and 7.  Thank you!

Please put your child's name in jackets, sweatshirts, and extra clothing so we can find the "owners" of lost clothing.  Thank you!

On February 13th, we will have our party focused on "love and friendship" from 1:00-2:00. We will need our Tuesdays volunteers on this day!  Thank you!

We will not have school on Monday, February 12th and February 19th in honor of Lincoln and Washington's birthday.

Have a wonderful week!
Cathy Werner
