Dear Families,
I want to give a warm welcome to Amir Hassan, Grace Martinez, Aryanna Monroy, Isabella Musleh and their families to our class! You all make a wonderful addition to our room!
Here is what's going on in Kindergarten next week:
Art/Science/Math: If you are able to, please bring 2 apples (any size/color) and one yellow apple by Tuesday, September 20th. Students will be using these apples to practice the concepts of sorting, counting and tasting different colored apples and graphing which flavor they like the most. They will learn about different types of graphs. We will dissect an apple to estimate and count the seeds in an apple and we will do a fun apple seed star art project. Students will be studying the life cycle of an apple tree as well as learning about the different stages that an apple tree goes through during the seasons.
Handwriting focus letters: O,o Q,q and S,s
Words of the Week: "the"
Reading: We will begin reading the small paper books that focus on sight words in our centers. When we send these books home, please have your child read them to you until they can read them fluently.
Math Homework Page: Pages 3-4. Please tear out the pages and return it in your child's homework folder once it is complete (please do not return pages that will be assigned in the future). I received all but 5 students homework pages this past week.
Reminders:
Make sure your child's homework folder is in their backpack EVERY day.
Label all clothing ,backpacks, and lunch boxes.
Please pack extra food on Wednesdays since we have an extra recess and many students are very hungry by the second recess.
Have a fun and sunny weekend,
Catherine Werner
